Tres Bon!

Dorothy McCall of Kingsbury Fragrances was our guest speaker at the Sunday Sniffapalooza lunch. She spoke about her life and experience as a perfumer, and we were given samples of her first fragrance, Très Bon.

A warm and comforting floral scent that is both woody and green, Très Bon bombards one with a delicious sensory overload of fragrance. The opening has a bit of citrus over crisp greens which then leads one into herbal lavender then deep rose in quick succession. The heart notes take on a woodsiness that serves as a backdrop to a rose and spicy carnation bouquet. And finally, the drydown is a vanilla-y amber. Although tobacco isn't listed as a note, I get an overall smoky edge. Subtle, like a burning candle wick. That quality gives Tres Bon the sensation of being a warm blanket on a cold day. There's also a quality to it that reminds me of something from my childhood, although I am at a loss to say what, specifically.  But something well-known and comfortable.  And the rich body cream is even better; I sniffed my arm all evening.
