I love lipsticks and have a million of them. Seems that I'm always looking for the perfect texture. I like ones that are creamy and glossy both, with good staying power. And of course, a wide selection of colors. I'm also picky about the flavor. Some companies flavor their lipsticks in a perfume-y way, and I just can't abide that. So today we're checking out Shiseido The Makeup Shimmering Lipstick.
"This dual-function lipstick combines the bright and lustrous brilliance found in lip gloss with the staying power and color intensity of lipstick. Conceals rough lip surfaces and vertical lines to minimize unevenness." So sayeth the description on Se
phora.com.
Sayeth me: this lippie definitely goes on smoothly, and has a nice gloss-like texture. But not gloopy like gloss, just a nice moistness. I love the shimmery quality - it's just right. Not sparkly, not glittery, not too much. And there's no discernible flavor - yay! As for staying power - well, it's lipstick, not a stain, so it's not going to hang around all day. I'd say it's about average - a couple of hours, as long as no eating, drinking, or excessive kissing goes on.
I tested shades SL16 and SL17. On my lips, 16 is a tad lighter, a more coral-pink, and 17 is a little deeper. Both are pretty pale though, almost a "your lips but better" type of color. And both are perfect for the (hopefully soon) upcoming Spring and Summer. I think I'll be getting a lot of use from both of these, particularly on those days when I don't want to look overly made-up. (Shiseido offers plenty of other colors as well, some darker, some lighter. Give them a try.)
