Satellite is the name of Frenchwoman Sandrine Dulon's line of both jewelry and fragrance. While her jewelry designs tend to be over-the-top in their embellishment and extremely costume-y (it is indeed costume jewelry), her perfumes have a more...err...earthy sensibility.
40º à l’Ombre
Notes: lemon, orange, bergamot, grapefruit, jasmine, lavender, geranium, musk, sandalwood, patchouli
A lively and fresh burst of sweet-tart lemon and grapefruit mingles with a strong patchouli note that has a bit of a sweaty, cumin-y quality to it (at least on my skin). Like a construction worker drinking a glass of lemonade. (Sorry.) Eventually the sweatiness fades and leaves a more true patch scent, but I find its dirtiness at odds with the bright freshness of the myriad citrus notes. I had hoped that the patchouli would be subtle, but it's not at all. Without it, I might actually like this one, but as it is...I need to go wash it off.
Corrida
Notes: black currant, neroli, rose, lily of the valley, jasmine, floral accord, sandalwood
The black currant note isn't as funky in this fragrance as it is in some others, but it has a bit of an herbal quality to it that reminds me of celery. (In fact, my first impression is of tuna salad. Yes, I am weird, but you knew that already) There's also an odd rubbery note that comes out at first, reminiscent of balloons or tires. When that fades, there's an almost raspberry note, tart and sweet, mingling with a bit of muguet, some jasmine. Meh. It does nothing for me, but at least it's not quite a scrubber.
I've tried Padparascha, the original Satellite scent (a nice woody frag), but not the two others, A la figue!, and Ipanema. At this point, I'm a little afraid to.
