Now that Demeter is offering small splash bottles of their scents for the low price of $3, I went a little crazy on their site and ordered a gaggle of fragrances to try. These bottles are labeled .33 fl. oz./11ml, but I got two differently sized bottles. I think the smaller of the two are about 11ml, and the larger are closer to 15ml, but what do I know.
Fiery Curry is the best of the bunch. Based on Thai rather than Indian curry, it has a warm sweet scent and a drydown reminiscent of Safran Troublant. It also lasts a decent amount of time, at least on my skin. I'm considering ordering this in body lotion or oil. Sticky Toffee Pudding has a pleasant burnt sugar aroma and half-decent staying power. Meyer Lemon smells lemony but isn't exactly a realistic lemon scent. This is Not a Pipe has a nice smoky sweetness at first, but turns stinky and harsh in the drydown. Sushi doesn't smell like fish, thankfully, but is a light and refreshing gingery citrus scent. Raspberry Jam is cloying and smells a bit burnt at first, then calms down a bit to smell pretty much like its namesake. Sweet Orange has a nasty, artificial, dry orange peel aroma. Bourbon smells like alcohol - perfumer's alcohol - and not much else. The lasting power is nil. Sawdust is cedary, and should have been named "No. 2 Pencil" instead.
Some folks are obsessed with collecting Demeters. I don't quite get it. They are really hit or miss, and although cheap, the lasting power for most scents is extremely poor. But...different strokes, eh?
