Montale Chocolate Greedy

posted Friday, 18 May 2007

Montale has a new scent called Chocolate Greedy that will be released in the US sometime this summer.  I haven't been able to get a listing of the notes, but I can tell you what it smells like.

The opening is a warm rich chocolate, like gooey brownies fresh from the oven.  Then it quickly settles into something drier, like hot cocoa mix, sans milk.  Maybe a bit of a malty quality there too.  And the slightest touch of something orangey, but only a bit.  A while later, I get some smoky vanilla, and the drydown several hours in is reminiscent of flan or creme caramel or other custardy dessert, with a burnt sugar aspect and a dash of nutmeg.

Chocolate Greedy is a wonderful and fairly true chocolate fragrance, a more realistic chocolate than Aquolina Chocolovers (which has far more orange, but not bad on the real chocolate scale), Fresh Index Fleurs de Chocolate (ditto, with even more orange), and the rather dull and dry Serendipitous (although I know that scent has a lot of fans).
