So I'm 42 years old and just discovering Mario Badescu Drying Lotion. Oh, I'd heard of it years ago, but had never seen it in the store to buy. But I was in Nordies a while back, buying some moisturizer, when I spotted a plastic container full of little bottles of the stuff. Impulsively, I bought one.
I've never had any real issues with my skin apart from clogged oil glands on the tops of my cheeks. Most of the time they behave themselves, but every once in a while I get what looks like a breakout. My face is red and I feel ugly and no amount of makeup covers it properly. Back in the early 90s, I went to a dermatologist who had me on a regimen of topical chemicals including Retin-A. It did a lot for my skin, but it also left me peeling like a banana, so I discontinued the regimen after several months of feeling leprous. Ok, so that's probably more than you all wanted to know about me. :)
Mario Badescu Drying Lotion is a spot treatment made with a blend of calamine and salicylic acid. One dabs a little on the problem areas to dry and heal them quickly. I scoffed at that a little, but I gave it a try. My face had broken out and I was feeling ugly so I thought, what the hell - it can't hurt. After applying my makeup, I dabbed a bit here and there. By evening, those shiny red spots were no longer red. The next morning, they were gone. Hello! I'm a believer!
