Notes: clementine, bergamot, castor, Bulgarian rose, orris, Texan cedar wood, incense, labdanum, myrrh, patchouli, ambergris
The opening is bright and spicy with a juicy citrus note seemingly marinated in cloves, as for a pomander. But this is merely an illusion caused by the rich deep incense note that pervades the fragrance. The rose note is also submerged in the depths of incense, giving an impression of flowers, but ones that do not take center stage away from the luxurious frankincense. I tend to think of incense as having a smoky quality, but this does not, at least to my nose.
This is unmistakably an Andy Tauer fragrance, as it has that typical dark beauty and a healthy dose of Tauerade in the drydown. After a while the citrus is replaced by patchouli, but eventually that pleasant tang disappears altogether, however leaving behind its memory.
I think Incense Rose has replaced L'Air du Desert Marocain as my favorite Tauer fragrance. It will be available later this month at Luckyscent.com.
