Hello Kitty's signature fragrance sold at Bath and Body Works wasn't quite enough for that ambitious cat, so she's come up with a new one sold at upscale department stores, Luckyscent, and its own eponymous store in Los Angeles. This one is called Momoberry, marketed as "sunshine in a bottle."
"This fruity floral citrus infusion opens with refreshing top notes of tempting guava, papaya, juicy tart pineapple, Mediterranean fig, white peach, and tangerine zest. A tropical floral bouquet of frangipani blossoms, red hibiscus, star jasmine, tuberose, and gardenia envelops the heart, while subtle notes of intoxicating Tahitian vanilla, sandalwood, coconut milk, and driftwood musk wraps the composition in a sheer veil."
Well, if that's not enough to make me run from the room, screaming, I don't know what is. Tropical fruit AND a combo of jasmine, tuberose, and gardenia! Yowsa. No matter how cute Ms Kitty is, she can't make me like this fuity tooty combination. (I actually somewhat like the B&BW Hello Kitty scent, although it is a tad sweet.) Momo means "peach" in Japanese. And "berry" means..."berry." I think the name should describe the juice, but it doesn't. And even if it did smell like peaches and berries, I probably wouldn't like it (I can't do peach notes).
I dab it on and take a sniff. Ugh...sweet guava and some pineapple are the opening notes with a blend of thankfully not intoxicating white florals. In all honesty, the white floral aspect is quite nice, kinda reminds me of Kai - if only we could lose the guava bit. I'm just happy I can't smell the papaya, because that always smells of pre-digested things to me. (Yes, vomit.) There's a bit of coconut in the drydown, but just a wee bit, and the insipid guava doesn't seem quite so in your face. In the drydown, the sandalwood and musk come out and make the scent a whole lot more pleasant...except for the guava note that won't die.
Sorry, Kitty, I would have preferred something more pink, less tropical. I still think you're cute and all that (although I prefer Chococat). Even though I find some of your products highly offensive.
Hi, Kathy! I'd been wondering about Momoberry, as I do find "Hello Kitty"
stuff somewhat amusing. (I've been lusting after the "Hello Pitbull" items
at Cafe Press, too. Some little pitbulls are just as "pink" in their
attitude as Kitty.) I was afraid to try this, so thanks for checking it
out. Such a service to personkind, or at least perfume personkind. --Ellen
