Guerlain Parure Compact Foundation

posted Wednesday, 22 October 2008

"This compact powder foundation takes a step into the future, employing a unique innovation in makeup. The formulation infuses a pressed powder foundation with transparency and radiance. Guerlain's created a formula to perfect this texture by introducing micro pearls of crystal which allow light to filter to the surface of the skin, revealing its texture, without its imperfections.

"Chic, urban, and modern, its case designed by Herve Van Der Straeten, has borrowed its stylish silhouette from the mobile phone. And, like a mobile phone, it fits into the hollow of your hand and opens with a little click at just the touch of a thumb."

So goes the official descriptive language for Guerlain Parure Compact Foundation.  This is the stuff that Marcus used on me during my ultra-long Guerlain makeover. I'm a sucker for powder foundation and have been using the Sephora version for years now.  I loved the way my skin looked with Parure, and Marcus had applied it so lightly too.  It's expensive ($60) but I had to have it, and the companion brush so I could apply it properly.

What can I say other than, "I Love it!" ?  Seriously good coverage - I don't even really need to apply concealer, and that's saying a lot.  And it looks light and beautiful and not foundation-y at all.  I can't help but compare this foundation to that Bare Minerals stuff people seem to like so much.  I have the basic kit from QVC, with the crappy hair-shedding brush. That has NO coverage at all.  I swirl that stuff onto my face and keep applying and all I get is a bunch of loose hair from the brush stuck everywhere.  Awful.  I'm happier to spend a little more money and get something of real quality.  Like the Guerlain.
