Eau d'Italie Magnolia Romana

Notes: purple basil, lemon leaves, neroli, nutmeg, cypress, magnolia flower extract, rose essence, traces of tuberose, lotus, ozone and water notes, cedar, hay extract, white musk

I know someone who will laugh at this, but Magnolia Romana smells of pickles to me.  Magnolias pickled with basil and spices in a light vinegary substance.  There are several floral fragrances that do this to me, but the pickle quality usually fades after fifteen or twenty minutes.  Not so with Magnolia Romana - it lasts and lasts.

I wanted to be able to give this scent a fair shake, figuring I'd like most of it apart from the "ozone and water notes," but good or bad I don't even notice them.  My friend Andrée spritzed herself with Magnolia Romana at some point before we caught our train on Sunday night, and she smelled great.  No pickles on her skin.  Maybe she'll leave her thoughts on this scent in the comments.

Sorry Eau d'Italie.  But I do love Paestum Rose, if that's any consolation.
